The spreading effect of the spreader roll is achieved through a curved steel shaft with rotating rolls mounted on ball bearings. The external rubber sleeve rotates freely, making these rolls ideal for plastic films, paper, fabrics, and similar products where other roll types are unsuitable.

The wrapping angle "W" varies based on material type:

During paper production, cross-section shrinkage often causes wrinkling. The spreader roll counteracts this by creating tension when the material contacts the roll surface. As edges tilt toward the roll ends, the material stretches uniformly, preventing wrinkles and ensuring perpendicular transport across the roller surface.
